Terms of Use

By using SNMP Taskbar you agree to these terms. Please read them before using the app.

Use of the app

SNMP Taskbar is provided as a utility for monitoring network throughput from SNMPv2c devices that you configure. You are responsible for ensuring that you have permission to monitor the devices you add to the app.

Do not use SNMP Taskbar to monitor devices or networks without authorisation from the device owner or network operator. Unauthorised SNMP polling may violate applicable laws or the policies of the network operator.

Local network monitoring

SNMP Taskbar sends SNMP requests to the configured devices on your network. You are responsible for:

  • Configuring SNMP securely on those devices, including choosing strong community strings, restricting SNMP access by IP address, and applying firewall rules.
  • Ensuring your SNMP community strings are treated as confidential credentials.
  • Keeping your Mac and network devices updated with current security patches.

The default SNMP community string public provides read access to device information. Consider using a custom community string restricted to the IP addresses that need monitoring access.

No warranty

SNMP Taskbar is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Network monitoring data may be delayed, unavailable, inaccurate, or interrupted by device, network, operating system, power, or configuration issues. Do not rely on SNMP Taskbar as your sole monitoring, alerting, billing, security, or safety-critical system.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developers are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from:

  • Use of, inability to use, or reliance on SNMP Taskbar or its output.
  • Errors, delays, or inaccuracies in monitored data.
  • Decisions made based on data shown by the app.
  • Loss of data, revenue, or business.

App Store terms

If you obtain SNMP Taskbar through the Mac App Store, Apple's standard App Store terms and conditions also apply. In the event of a conflict between these terms and Apple's terms, Apple's terms govern the App Store transaction.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version is always published at snmp-taskbar.slepp.ca/terms/. Continued use of SNMP Taskbar after an updated version is published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
